Inspired by: Claudia Jones
Trinidadian social and political activist and journalist Claudia Jones fought for equality for blacks and the poor in both the United States and England. She also helped organize the first West Indian Carnival in London, England. The festivities subsequently grew into the Notting Hill Carnival, a summer street festival in London featuring Caribbean food, dance, and costumes.
